The loss assessing service is a complete package - Dealt with from Start to finish by Conspect industry professionals to attain the best possible result for your claim.
(If you only require a damage report see the note at the bottom of this page)
Before outlining the details of the service here are a few common terms explained:
  • The 'insured' or the 'claimant' -
This is the person making a claim for a loss against their insurance company. - You, or the name on the policy.
  • The 'insurer' -
The company that have issued the policy. In some cases insurance purchased through supermarkets and banks are underwritten by another company entirely. This is the company we will be dealing with during the course of your claim.
  • A Broker -
A Broker is a middleman involved in the sale of the policies to you. He/she will represent you and get you the best possible deal when buying your policy. They will not represent you or prepare a claim on your behalf.
  • A 'Loss adjuster' -
They are appointed by the insurance company when you make a claim. They are sent to adjust the settlement of the claim and to ascertain whether or not the conditions of the policy have been met. The company pays their fee in the interest of reducing the amount payed to you in settlement. They will deal with a loss assessor when negotiating your claim.
  • A 'Loss assessor' -
A professional such as Conspect to represent your interests during the preparation, negotiation and settlement of a claim. We are here to steer you around all of the 'pit falls' and problems you will encounter when trying to make a claim.

Service Details
Every claim we assess for our customers will include the following features. Upon contacting Conspect for assistance with a claim or loss we will:
  1. Review your policy to establish your cover and discuss the claim. Your policy is a complicated legal document which outlines the terms of cover, what is covered and what is not. The burden of proof is on you the 'insured' and your insurance company will send a loss adjuster to represent their interests. The prudent first step you have taken is to employ the services of Conspect as loss assessors. The initial consultation is free. From that point we will have established the extent of your cover and agreed to handle the claim. During our visit we will assist you in preparation, listing an inventory of your loss and acquiring estimates for repair or replacement required when filing a claim. From that point we will represent you at every stage of the claim taking away all of the hassle and worry. We will only take on a claim having had this initial meeting and inspection which in most cases will help you by preserving any evidence of your loss that might have otherwise been destroyed or overlooked, second that with a properly filed claim and you are on the 'path' to a speedy and satisfactory resolution of the loss you have suffered. The Amount you will pay Conspect is detailed on the prices page, but the proof that we fully guarantee our service is shown by the fact that we will not expect payment until we have successfully dealt with the claim on your behalf and you have received a settlement cheque from the insurance company which will include our fee.
  2. The first steps taken are crucial when making a claim and promptly doing the following a Conspect assessor will expediently get the process started
    • Immediately report the loss to your insurance company or broker if you haven't done so already. They will send you a claim form and appoint a Loss adjuster to negotiate on their behalf if necessary.
    • Our assessor will prepare a written report on the area and nature of the damage incurred. This will list all aspects of damage or items included in the loss and the values attached.
    • We will assist you in obtaining all the information you will have to fill out on the claim form.
Name of the Insured, the risk address (where the loss occurred), your policy number and name of broker if any.
Date the incident occurred and the details of what happened.
Obtain estimates or appraisals to repair or replace the area's damaged or items lost.
    • Having all of the above details and information will assist the loss adjuster or insurance company representative in making his/her report, conclusions and final recommendation to the company.
    • Conspect will keep track of the claim through all stages. The policyholder is responsible to report the claim and verifying the value of the loss and total value at risk. The loss adjuster or insurance company will estimate the total value at risk and the amount actually covered by the policy. Their final claim report will emphasize any under-insurance or exemptions to the provisions and stipulations in terms of the policy. They will not inform you of items that you have not included in your claim.
Having a Conspect Assessor professionally represent you at every stage in the claim and thoroughly preparing and presenting the facts will accomplish an equitable and full settlement of any loss you have incurred making sure nothing is left out.
Conspect will not accept any settlement offer with out your approval
Insurance companies no matter how reputable have bottom lines and shareholders to keep happy. They are in the business of selling policy's and collecting premiums year on year. The only interruption to this enterprise are the customers claims which they are obliged to settle under the terms of the policy. A policy has a lot of 'Grey areas' and not including something on a claim is down to the policyholder. A final settlement of a claim is just that, Final.
Make sure you receive your full entitlement for the loss you have suffered.
Conspect's Loss assessor service is a No win - No fee product.

Note: If you only require an independent professional inspection and report drafted to record the damage suffered during a loss and schedule of repair or replacement works to submit to another party ( i.e. you do not require a loss assessor to manage the claim completely ) - go to>>
Inspection and report service page.

DID YOU KNOW?
A standard exclusion on most bricks and mortar policies would be:
'If the property is unfurnished or unoccupied for more than 60 consecutive days immediately prior to the loss or damage'. That is a pretty standard exclusion that policyholders are aware of where as your policy is full of lesser known exclusions such as:
'during a storm damage incident to torch-on felt flat roofs over 10 years of age wouldn't be covered'. You would be surprised how many insurance companies ask for details of the damage caused on a claim form and upon receiving the information that a flat roof has been damaged they dismiss the claim and send a letter to that effect. You read the back of your policy document and see that the flat felt roof is not covered. If the storm was very bad and your insurance company are busy with alot of claims at that time you might slip through the cracks and be left to pay for the replacement of the roof yourself. Involving a company of loss assessors such as Conspect will make sure that the claim is look at properly and fully investigated to see if the damage is in fact covered.
The service is no-win, no-fee so upon our first inspection we will be able to tell you if you can in fact claim or not.
